Time Really Does Fly

I can’t believe that it has been 2 months and then some since I’ve posted on this blog.  Perhaps that is why it took forever to make one and I apologize for being so slack.  We’ve had lots going on with the family. Below are a few scrap LO’s I’ve done to remember them.

Tom has been in Alaska since 21 Sept. and he loves it there, or so he says!  In Oct. the cute fuzzy polar bear swam to the shore and fell asleep.  Tom got this shot from 25 to 30 yards away.  (Kit is Urban Rain Mini by digiMom Designs)

50 Years

On Saturday we will be celebrating my parents’ Golden Wedding anniversary.  First let me say that is doesn’t seem possible for that many years to have come and gone!  This is quite an occasion for Mom & Dad and we are so happy to be able to do this for them.  Over the years, they have been blessed with 3 of us brats ;) , 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.  We’ll be meeting at the Church of Christ multi-purpose building from Noon until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday the 23rd of August.  If you can find the time to stop by for a few minutes, Chuck & Bonnie would love for you to share in their special day.  They have asked that we stress “NO GIFTS”.   I’ll be posting photos and making a scrapbook so that they can share their day with those who can’t make it.  Hope to see you all there!

Hugs to all,

Jan

Grumble, Groan

Well, I had to take time out to work on the taxes.  They are finished and will go into the mail tomorrow.  I so dread those puppies and am so happy that they are now behind me.  One less stressful thing to be worrying about.

The weather is starting to get nicer and that means that the camera will be charged and we’ll be off to record some cemetery for future generations.  The Dr. said exercise would be good, and I love to just go out walking around taking photos.  In the meantime, we have some photos left to be scrapped.

 Hugs to all,

Jan

Feeling wonderful

The lap chole is over and I have had very little difficulty since Monday.  It is absolutely wonderful not to have that constant ache in my right shoulder!!  I’m starting to be able to eat something besides Jello ; )~ and there has been very little pain.   Thanks to each of you who sent along well wishes and prayers.  They were definitely felt and appreciated!

I hope to be back at my desk on Monday, and will be calling tomorrow to find out if that is possible.  I suppose that I won’t cry too hard if he says no.  It’s been nice to just relax and visit with the little one the last few days.

Wish Upon A Star

Sleeping Angel

My DGS, Ryley.  LO is made with parts from Wish Upon A Star posting bonus pieces at SAS.  There is still time to get your own!!

For the birds

On Sunday, while Mom & I were sitting at the table working on genealogy tasks, we heard a little tap, tap, tap.  At first I thought it was one of the dogs thumping their paw.  We heard it again and it sounded more like a knocking.  Guess what?  There on the bird feeder just outside the diningroom window was a red headed woodpecker!  Okay, so it’s no big deal to lots of you, but I live with the neighbor’s house almost arms length away and we don’t get lots of types of birds out there.  For that matter the neighbor doesn’t care for the birds and sometimes I think she scares them off on purpose.  One of these days I will have to figure how to get photos without scaring them off.  It is certainly too cold to be standing out there waiting on them.  Still, it would be nice to have the photos to put on my digital layouts.

Love & Hugs to All,

Jan

Getting Closer

Well, it is just a week now until the lap chole is scheduled.  Am I scared?  You bettcha!!  However, we have sent up lots of prayers and will leave things in the hands of the Almighty.  He can do wonders if we just let go and let him.  I promise as soon as this is behind us I will get busy scrapping all the pictures that we’ve taken in the past few months as well as the heritage ones we’ve scanned.  I have so many things I want to do and so many projects to get completed, I can’t wait until I’m feeling better to do them.

Erin, Ryley & Josh will be home just about the time of my surgery.  I can’t wait to see them all and to feel the hugs of that sweet little Ryley!!  It seems like forever since they’ve been gone.  He is so excited about coming back to WV!!  He’s looking forward to living in his new house and being able to share his toys with his cousins.  Grandma is looking forward to taking even more pictures.

Be sure to hop over to SAS and check out the challenges and fun things going on.  There are lots of new kits in the store, don’t forget to check them out.

Hugs,

Jan

What’s In A Name

Okay, so jump on over to SAS and check out the Life History Challenge for January.  See how easy it is to participate then dig out those darling baby photos and get scrapping!!  The link is in the Blogroll section on the right edge of the page.  Hope to see you there!!

Happy New Year!

As we approach a new year, my goal is to get organized and to try and stay organized.  Notice that I have avoided the word “resolution”.  For some reason I always fail miserably with those and have learned just not to make them.    So, in an attempt to organize my scrapping habit, here we are.

The birth of my grandchildren was the starting point of my scrapping.  It was traditional for a very short while.  When I discovered that it could be done on the computer without the hassle of glue and oops, I cut that wrong, most of my traditional things were packed away.

Aside from the cute pictures I scrap of friends or their children, most of my scrapping is Heritage oriented.  I want my children to know the story of their family, of their hardships and their victories and of the traditions that have carried forward and why.  At the moment they are a little young to care about this, but someday they will know the story.

In an attempt to teach others about genealogy, I am posting genealogy lessons at  Stone Accent Studios.  If you are interested in how to trace your family history, please see the forum’s Weekly Genealogy Lesson.  While you are there, please check out the Heritage Layout Challenges.  We run 2 challenges a month, which will help add pages to your album.  Winners of the challenge receive a coupon for $5 to use in the SAS Boutique.  There you have it, add to your Heritage Album and also to your digital scrapping goodies for free.
